Jonathan Nagel, born in Albuquerque, NM, has been immersed in art and creativity since 1981. An illustration based artist and filmmaker, his work explores themes of fantasy versus reality, existentialism, spirituality, memory & time, and art and the creative struggle.  

His journey, sparked by childhood curiosity and imagination, led him to study illustration design with an emphasis on entertainment at Art Center College of Design.

He has had work published in Dodho’s 2024 Monochromatic book, illustrated a book for children in Haiti, won numerous awards for his short films, and selected to pitch his feature film at one of the world’s top 50 film festivals called Albuquerque Film & Music Experience.

Jonathan lives and works in the high desert of Albuquerque NM.
